The chapel is related to the Schoenstatt Movement founded near Koblenz in 1914. This wants a church of the future that will continue to lead people to Jesus Christ. This movement found numerous supporters in the First and Second World Wars. The narrow building near Saarwellingen was erected in 1950 by war returnees from today's street Zum Rotwäldchen.
Every year in May there is a procession of lights to the chapel.

Benches offer a shady resting place with a view over the fields, behind which the Saar polygon rises in the distance.

      The Schoenstatt Chapel

Chapel as a place of worship of the Blessed Mother and as a place of rest and reflection. In 1950 the men from Falscheiderstraße, today Zum Rotwäldchen, built a Marienkapelle in Saarwellingen as thanks for their return from the Second World War. The maintenance and cleaning as well as the decoration of the chapel is taken over by the residents of the street Zum Rotwäldchen to this day. If you look over the open field, a great panorama opens up, because there is a lot to see: In addition to the community of Saarwellingen, the European broadcaster Berus, the Ensdorfer Bergehalde, the heights of the Saargau, the Limberg, the Siersburg and the Litermont can be seen . Plus wide meadows and fields. Source: Text information board

Relaxation benches, a small chapel and a view of the Saarlouis basin with the Limberg massif and Saarpolygon on the Ensdorf mountain heap.
