About one kilometer northeast of Burg in Spreewald, the historically interesting Schlossberg rises 9 meters above the plain. At this point, a 27-meter-high tower was built in the years 1915-1917.

Thus, a lookout tower was created, which allows a wide view over the unique landscape of the Burger Spreewald. On the other hand, this building is a testimony of the Bismarck Memorial Movement, which left its mark on the whole of Germany after the death of the first German Chancellor Otto von Bismarck in 1898.

The tower experienced a changeful history until today. By the beginning of World War II, thousands of visitors were climbing the tower; during the war he served as the observation point of the Luftwaffe; In 1951 it was renamed the "Tower of Youth", since autumn 1990 the tower is called Bismarckturm again.

Over 26 steps leads to the first platform, 85 further steps lead to the second platform. If you want to reach the top, you can reach the octagonal tower via a narrow spiral staircase.
Meanwhile, numerous events take place against the backdrop of the Bismarck tower. The "Night of Pumpkin Ghosts" in October or the "Spreewald Sagennacht" on Whitsun weekend are just some of them.

The Bismarckturm was built at the beginning of the 20th century by donations. It is 27 meters high and consists of 1.5 million red clinker bricks from the Californian Ottilienhütte.
At the foot of the Bismarck tower is a small inn, where one can have on a frosty January day (and not only then) the Plinsen, pancakes from yeast dough, can taste.

Nice brick tower with a great view. You can enjoy the view from the 27m high tower on 3 different platforms. A total of 138 steps have to be mastered for the ascent. The inauguration was on September 2nd, 1917.

Very impressive tower made of brick. For € 3 you can go up the tower and enjoy the great view of the scattered settlement area of Burg. Opposite the tower is a small snack bar with a beer garden.

Beautiful monument tower that also serves as a viewing platform. Unfortunately closed during COVID times.

The Bismarck Tower was built in the time of the Bismarck monuments. It was renamed during the GDR until it got its old name back in the 90s.

Another monument in honor of Bismarck as you often find it. The tower is accessible and you have a great view.

The view from above, over the Spreewald, is worthwhile.

Walk-in tower (with entry), which offers wonderful views of the Spreewald. There are several viewing platforms.

An imposing building. We weren't inside, but judging by the pictures, there's a lot to discover inside and a great view of the Burg area.
