At the beginning of the 1970s (1870), Prince Moritz of Saxe-Altenburg ordered the spring below to be cut into wood, but then, when the woodwork had rotted, by order of Duke Ernst of Saxe-Altenburg, the local stonemason Kornmann made it into stone caught.The word Ernst Quelle and the number 1880 are written on the stone tablet.In the 1950s, deep drilling was carried out at the Ernstquelle to improve the water supply to the city of Eisenberg.
