The building in the Lattenklieversstraat with house number 46 had many municipal functions over the years. Before 1972, the rectory was located there. The rectory was closed off from the street by a wall in which a small chapel was also integrated on the corner of the Lattenklieversstraat and the Maria Aaltersteenweg. Behind the chapel, the photo shows the enormous cedar that still adorns the square in front of the current building.

The condition of the building was very poor at the beginning of the 1970s, so that the construction of a new rectory had long been necessary. The municipal authorities also planned to build a new town hall. It was then decided to build a new rectory for the church, and to realize a new town hall on the site of the old rectory, after the demolition of the old building. Together with the demolition of the old rectory in 1971, the chapel was unfortunately also demolished.

The new town hall was in use from 1972. Shortly after the municipal merger with Beernem, the services of the VDAB, OCMW, services for the population (regarding obtaining garbage bags, ...) were established there. Later, a library branch was also added and also a consultation room for Child & Family. Since 2003, this municipal building has been called the 'Social House'. The Social House moved to Bloemendalestraat in Beernem in 2017. This building was then named 'Huis van het Kind', with the opening of a new BKO branch (= Out-of-school Childcare) in 2020.
