The Korte cliff is named after the former Essen horticulture director Rudolf Korte. Among other things, he was involved in the design of the Botanical Garden in 1925-27, the predecessor of the Grugapark. A memorial stone at the lookout reminds Korte.

The lookout point is best reached via Heisinger Straße. The ascent from the lake is very difficult. To recommend also the ruin Isenburg very close
