This church was one of the most impressive buildings on the entire island. Aa Kirke was once the main church on Bornholm. The Romanesque church was built in the 12th century from Bornholm Silurian limestone and green sandstone. The unusual feature is the double tower, which also defines the townscape of Aarkirkeby. The church is named after the two small rivers between which it stands: Laeså and Grødby Å.
