The old coin, which is remarkable for its architectural style and colour, is the oldest building in the town of Schleiz. Not only did it survive all the city fires, but also the bombing raid on April 8, 1945. The building was first mentioned in writing in 1647. Dendrological examinations of the roof beams showed that the roof beams used for this purpose were felled in the winter of 1600/1601.
Today it houses the tourist information.
