Forter Castle is a striking fortified mansion that was built in 1560 by the Ogilvy family of Airlie. The castle was ravaged by fire in the mid-17th century and was left in a state of disrepair for many years. However, from 1988 to this present day, father and daughter duo Robert and Katharine Pooley have painstakingly restored the castle back to its former glory.
