Between 1911 and 1968, the “Vogteier Bimmel” railway crossed the Hainich National Park. There was a train stop in Heyerode. You can still admire the wonderful, colorful old train station there today. There is now a country inn with overnight accommodation: landgasthof-hainich.de.
