House Havichhorst is mentioned for the first time in a document in 1032. The estate was originally the property of the Bishop of Münster, who later left it to the cathedral dean. The estate with the mill was administered by an episcopal "Villicus", the "Schulten to Havichhorst".

The Westfälische Reit- und Fahrschule Münster e.V., which was founded in 1922, is also located on the other site. Here you can begin training to become a master horse manager or trainer.
