The path from Heimbach up to Mariawald Abbey is lined with elaborately designed stations of the cross. "The following hike on the Kreuweg should be done for oneself in peace and contemplation by visiting the 14 stations about the suffering of Christ. Through the sloping, wooded terrain, everyone can find the necessary peace and quiet in their own way." Steffi Diefenthal writes in her article "The Trappist monastery in Mariawald.
