Anyone interested in the history of Biesenthal and its church inevitably stops on September 14, 1756. Back then, a devastating fire destroyed almost all of the city's buildings. The people were left with nothing, and the town hall and church were in ruins. Only the foundations of the western tower have been preserved. It can still be seen there that it must have been a stately three-aisled field stone church from the middle of the 13th century.
