Between the Neuenmarkt-Wirsberg and Marktschorgast stations there is still a railway line that made European railway history at the time of its construction in the years 1844 to 1848 - this is the first route in Europe that has a significant difference in height of 158 meters had to overcome an incline of 1:40 and could be driven on without additional technical aids!
