People used to look for protection and support in a field stone church. However, due to dilapidation, the Leezen residents had to demolish their church in 1870. They built the brick church with Gothic style elements, such as B. the pointed arches of the windows. The wooden, shingle-covered bell tower dates from the 17th century. The oldest religious object of the church is the crucifixion group from the 15th century, diagonally opposite the main entrance door. It represents the crucified, Mary and the disciple John. The Hebrew lettering for "God" can be read above the baroque altar from the middle of the 17th century. The organ from 1872 was built by Heinrich Schaper and consists of around 879 pipes.

A special feature in the church is the baptismal angel above the baptismal font. From around 1755 until the 1920s, this was used for baptism instead of a baptismal font. In 1956, the community returned to the baptismal font and inserted the old "Leezener Döp", a brass bowl from 1663, into the new sandstone baptismal font. The relief of the baptismal font shows how the angel Maria announces the birth of her son, as well as the baptism of Jesus by John the Baptist. Today's steel bells in the church tower replaced the old bronze bells in 1874. Their sound can still be heard far beyond the villages.
