The 1.5-hectare park with a waterfront on the Spree was named after the laundry entrepreneur Albert Mentzel. He was born on April 14, 1839 and died on July 28, 1922 in Berlin. The park belonged to his estate on the Oberspreestraße and was bought in 1925 by the city of Berlin.

From the park you have a beautiful view over the Spree, which is quite wide here.
