The Seceda summit is probably the most crowded mountain in the Dolomites these days... You should arrive before 8 a.m., because the first cable car takes you up at 8:00 or 8:30 a.m. Before that, you'll have peace and quiet, but afterward, it gets very busy and crowded. Those arriving on foot are best advised to take the ascent from Selva or the Cristauta parking lot... Once you get to the top, most people aren't interested in the Seceda itself. Because everything revolves around the view from the Seceda to the Odle Group... Although the panoramic view from the Seceda summit itself is certainly not to be sniffed at: you get a fantastic panoramic view. As of September 2025, there's a turnstile at one of the entrances to the Seceda with a €5 entrance fee, but you can avoid this!

This hike is not only one of the most beautiful you can do in Val Gardena, but also one that you can do with the whole family. The hike starts at the fee-based hiking car park of the Col Raiser cable car (therefore a clear recommendation: a fair 5 euros for the car per day). From the mountain station you then start on a wide hiking trail until you come to a crossroads where the signs point in the direction of Seceda. Here you climb up to the vantage point of the Seceda summit at 2,419 m, from which you have a great view of the unusual shape of the Geisler group and its Fermeda towers. The panoramic view also extends to the rest of the Gardena Dolomites from the Sella Group to the Sassolungo and Sassopiatto and to the Alpe di Siusi.

Along the crest we now go down, across flower-covered meadows, until we reach the small Malga Pieralongia, which lies in the midst of huge boulders. From here you hike down on wide paths over the alpine meadows, past the old Regensburger Hütte, to the starting point at the mountain station of the Col-Raiser cable car.

A really spectacular hike for the whole family in the mountains of South Tyrol. 🚶‍♂️💯

If you like it more alpine, you can climb the 3000 Sass Rigais as a connecting tour, which is considered the main summit of the Geisler group. Time approximately 5:30 from the Seceda. It is indeed a demanding, but extremely rewarding venture in the beautiful backdrop of the Dolomites combined with the adventure of a not too difficult via ferrata on a real three thousand meter peaks.
