    Mountaineering

Seceda is the ideal place to take impressive pictures of the famous Geisler peaks.
    Showing Translation
The mountain's name is derived from the Latin word siccus (dry). It refers to the arid and dry pastureland below the summit.

    Alpine skiing

The Seceda is a ski area above St. Ullrich. It can be reached directly by cable car or via Col Raiser. At the summit there is a lookout point not far from the ski slopes with a magnificent view of the eastern Alpine ridge and the Dolomites. There are very good information boards that can be used to understand the all-round view.
Attention: This highlight has been assigned wrong pictures, namely from the area Dantercepies - Colfosco!
Addendum: The misallocated images have since been removed.

Embark on a moderate hike with the Walk on Monte Seceda loop tour, offering dramatic scenery in the Dolomites. This route covers 2.5 miles (4.0 km) with an elevation gain of 867 feet (264 metres), taking about 1 hour and 36 minutes to complete. You will traverse high alpine meadows and rolling hills, leading to striking jagged rock formations, most notably the iconic Fermeda Towers of the Odle/Geisler group, often described as a "Swiss army knife" cutting the sky. Expect a mix of gravel paths and unpaved sections, with some parts potentially slippery after rain.

While the Seceda area offers various routes, this specific loop is a moderate option. Many visitors reach the summit plateau via cable car from Ortisei, which allows you to choose your hiking intensity. The trail is generally accessible, but some sections require good footing. You will find charming alpine huts like Baita Troier and Baita Daniel along the way, perfect for refreshments. Always check local conditions, especially after bad weather, as some paths can become slick.

Monte Seceda is celebrated for its jaw-dropping panoramas and is located within the Puez-Odle Nature Park, a protected UNESCO World Heritage Site. The area's name, "Seceda," comes from the Latin "siccus," meaning dry, referring to the pastures below the summit. This region provides some of the most striking views in the Dolomites, offering 360-degree vistas of surrounding peaks like the Puez Group and Sassolungo. Remember that wild camping and drone flying are strictly forbidden to preserve this natural beauty.
