Hiking
The building, built in 1954, is located on the highest elevation of the Langeooger Höhenpromenade, a 20 meter high dune called Punschdüne. Previously, there were five previous buildings in a lighter design elsewhere on the island, but each was destroyed by forces of nature. The building, which was built on stone foundations, was fitted with a freight elevator and stairs in 1970, and was renovated in 1978. Its exposed position has an effect on the appearance of the island.
