Hiking Highlight
The green belt animal (Dasipus frankonia) drawn by Robert Gernhardt has been standing on the Robert Gernhardt Bridge in Bonames since 2007, cast in bronze. It can also be found three times on the MainÄppelHaus-Lohrberg site in Seckbach and once on the bridge railing at the airport. The animal invented by Gernhard is a mixture of pig, newt and star. Its fur is grass green and its preferred territory is the Frankfurt Green Belt. This is where Robert Gernhardt first discovered and drew it on the Wörthspitze, a former Nidda island in Höchst. Today the three "Gernhardt Eschen" stand at this point and to commemorate this incident. The cartoonist gave the animal to the city of Frankfurt for the tenth anniversary of the Frankfurt Green Belt. There is it on the book cover of the book sculpture Stadtschreiber Bergen-Enkheim on the Hohe Strasse in Bergen-Enkheim, but also as a stuffed animal, sticker, poetry album picture. There is also the Green Belt Tier Suite, and the Green Belt Tier already has its own website.
Gernhardt is like F.K. Waechter, Hans Traxler, Chlodwig Poth and F.W. Bernstein a co-founder of the "New Frankfurt School".Source: kunst-im-oefflichen-raum-frankfurt.de/de/page150.html?id=390
