The imposing castle houses a museum!
The white tower of the Veste Otzberg is called "white turnip" by the locals, and everyone can see it at first sight. Above you look at the hiking destinations from a superordinate perspective. Below you can pay attention to the housed museum: special exhibitions take up folkloric and cultural-historical topics.Located on the basalt cone of an extinct volcano, the Otzberg Veste rises far above the rolling hills of the northern Odenwald. From the defiant keep, also known as white turnip, your gaze wanders to Frankfurt and the Taunus. Erected at the end of the 12th century as Vogteburg, the fortress was once a Palatinate official residence, an invalid barracks and a prison. In the former commander's house invites you the beautiful Burgschänke with beer garden to stop. In the museum Otzberg there is Hessian folk culture to look at and experience.
Source: tourismus-odenwald.de A lot of bustle still prevails at the Veste: Easter market, summer concerts, autumn festival, Christmas market, pottery market, cider tasting, antiquarian book market, romantic evenings, Kinderburgfest, medieval courtyards, embroidery courses, knights' dinners and much more let you discover something new again and again.
