    "The old 'Boucher", as it is popularly known, is an honorable natural monument that has many friends. For a long time it has defied the storms of time on the 588 meter high summit of the Kohlbühl. It used to be seven meters in circumference and had been hollow inside for over 60 years, as a photo from 1949 shows. A lightning strike in the 1970s tore the big old tree into several pieces. Only a scorched torso and a number of miserable branches remained.
