The “Helzerklaus” on the edge of the forest in Helzingen / Hachiville was recognized as a place of pilgrimage in 1474 thanks to a papal bull. A very beautiful carved altar was added around 1500, which contributed significantly to the attractiveness of the hermit chapel. Today there is a copy in the Helzerklaus and the original of the altar is in the church of Helzingen / Hachiville in a side chapel.
