Part of the Beinn a Ghlò massif in Scotland’s Grampian Mountains, Càrn Liath is a prominent Munro and quite easy to access. Lying to the north east of the village of Blair Atholl, the mountain is the first you typically ascend to complete a circuit of Beinn a Ghlò’s trio of Munros, allowing you to make your adventure as short or long as you like.

    Hiking

Carn Liath is a 975m Munro mountain in the Scottish Highlands. It sits to the east of Glen Tilt. We parked at the north end of Loch Moraig before walking up a track and then over very marshy ground before starting the ascent.

UPDATE 24/06/24 - A great deal of path laying has been undertaken since my initial tip was made - there is now a stone pitched and gravel path over the boggy section at the base of Carn Liath. Bravo to those who worked on this project 👏🏼

    Hiking

The first Munro of Beinn a'Ghlo, the path to it is steep and sometimes quite rocky. But once the summit is reached, most of the hard work for the day is done.
