The Church of St. Agatha in Mettingen was built on the initiative of Pastor Heinrich Hüging in the years 1891-1894 and consecrated on September 17, 1895 by Bishop Hermann Dingelstad. The listed church with west tower, transept, roof turret and sacristy was created under the leadership of the architect Wilhelm Rincklage, an important master builder of regional historical sacred architecture. The transition from Romanesque to Gothic is modeled on: Romanesque round arches and arched friezes can be found as well as Gothic tracery and pointed arched windows.
