The island of Hombroich is an exciting and special destination. The founder of the museum and the foundation, Karl-Heinrich Müller, acquired the area with the aim of combining art, nature and architecture. The island is designed as a "daylight museum". The idea is to make the sculptures, which also include the buildings, a sensual experience, which is why there is no signage or artificial lighting.

You should allow around three to four hours for a thorough inspection. But even if you don't know what to do with contemporary art, it is a worthwhile excursion destination and worth a detour from the Erft cycle path.

Beautiful park with extravagant buildings, some of which contain art. Also worth a visit as an art phobic.

Of course you have to go in here on foot! It is worth it in any weather and in any season. A snack in the cafe is included in the admission price.

The Museum Insel Hombroich was founded in 1987 by the art collector Karl-Heinrich Müller (1936 - 2007). This unique ensemble of art, architecture and landscape follows the principle of the impressionist Paul Cézanne - to develop "art parallel to nature".
Anatol Herzfeld, a student of Joseph Beuys, had his studio here in a former barn in the old park since 1982. The sculptor Erwin Heerich (1922 - 2004) designed most of the pavilions. He and the painter Gotthard Graubner (1930 - 2013) had studios here.
The museum completely dispenses with signposts and explanations - visitors can find their own way in the extensive park landscape and make their own discoveries of art and nature.

Even those who have nothing to do with art can stroll through the great landscape here.
The buildings are also very extravagant.

The Museum Island Hombroich with its wonderful exhibitions embedded in an equally beautiful landscape is absolutely worth seeing !!!!! Enjoy walking and let yourself drift while marveling at a little art by Anatol. The physical well-being also gets something in the form of coffee, tea, pretzels, local apples and relaxed places for a break. Gorgeous !!!!!

It's actually worth parking the bike and walk ( komoot.de/highlight/151065 ) through this museum embedded in nature: Insel Hombroich Museum was founded by art collector Karl-Heinrich Müller (1936 – 2007) in 1987. In creating this unique ensemble of art, architecture and landscape, he was true to the tenet of the Impressionist Paul Cézanne – ‘art in parallel to nature’.
Müller maintained close contact with artists. Since 1982, in a former barn in the park, Anatol Herzfeld, once a pupil of Joseph Beuys’, has been sculpting almost daily. Both, sculptor Erwin Heerich (1922–2004) and painter Gotthard Graubner (1930–2013), had studios here.
The Museum dispenses with signposts altogether – visitors are free to find their own way in the extensive parkland and make their own discoveries of art and nature alike. The Rosa Haus, the old villa, is home to the Literatur– und Kunstinstitut Hombroich established by the collector Dr. Volker Kahmen, but requires advanced reservation.

The Museum Insel Hombroich, opened in 1987, encompasses a landscape protection area of 21 hectares and is a pure daylight museum with ten accessible sculptures, some of which are used as exhibition buildings. In order to make art and nature tangible, in addition to artificial lighting, signage, captions, barriers, etc. as well as any didactics are dispensed with.

The Museum Insel Hombroich was opened in 1987 and comprises a landscape protection area of 21 hectares. So it is a large open-air museum with partly accessible exhibition buildings, sculptures and installations. The island looks like an enchanted place and shows the Rhenish meadow landscape in its very original form. There is hardly any artificial lighting, excessive signage and barriers and therefore the art fits perfectly into nature. However, the museum appeals to the visitors to behave appropriately. You should therefore stay on the paths and not stroll across the fields through the flowering meadows. Because there live many native animals such as birds, frogs, insects etc. which have found a very special protected area here.Monday 10: 00-19: 00

Beautiful, large area - art, philosophy, nature, a beautiful meadow landscape in the immediate vicinity of the large towns. The inclusive management of the bistro on a donation basis - GREAT
there is coffee water and a decent yeast roll with or without raisins and nice natural local apples. 10 euros entry for local recreation. A contemplative place with beautiful art moments. The park does without signposts (kommod helps) or one reflects on the boy scout virtues. Questions can also help... Artist encounters Anatol Herzfeld is frequent here. But you can also find many of his figures in Neuss and the surrounding area. The studios and rooms are beautiful places for reflection.
