The tower covered with red shingles is a relic from the 14th century. Since the plateau of Rothenthurm was one of the controversial areas in the march controversy between the Schwyzers and the monastery Einsiedeln, a Letzi wall was built around the hillside in 1310. In 1323, the corner towers followed at the ends of the 450-meter-long wall - one of which is the Red Tower, which has been preserved to this day.
