Within sight of the Weidenmühle (Weiden Mill), the sandstone mill wheel sculpture recalls the days the Wickerbach stream once enjoyed as a "rushing mill stream." Along its 21-kilometer course, from its source in the Taunus Mountains to its confluence with the Main River, it was lined with a total of 20 mills as early as the 14th century. Due to the fertile soils of the Wickerbach Valley and the associated agricultural practices, it was primarily grain mills that "clattered" along the Wickerbach. However, the region also boasted paper mills, tanning mills, oil mills, and blacksmith mills.
