What I really like about Tarleton Lock is that it provides a good boating exploration for canal users. Even though the Rufford branch of the Leeds and Liverpool Canal connects with the actual one, it provides a good vantage point for boats to head down to where the canal acts a gateway to the River Douglas. It all depends on if people are allowed to access the River Douglas given the nature of the tide and when it'll be low enough.
