The Lüserbach has its source in the extreme north-east of Dortmund and crosses under the A 2 motorway in Lanstrop. In the Lüner city area, it was almost completely redesigned in 2002 to be more natural - from Lanstroper Straße to the level of Auf den Kämpen.
From there, a pumping station conveys the stream water via an underground line to the "pouring point" north of Niederadener Straße, where it can continue to flow freely.
Without pumps, the creek would flow "backward" along this stretch - a result of subsidence after many years of mining.
