Fantastic hike through the Ilsental in the footsteps of Heinrich Heine. The food in the Waldgasthof Plessenburg was delicious and filling (plessenburg.de/). In a small but nice hut we were lovingly cared for by a young landlady with cocoa and coffee. In the National Park House Ilsetal we were surprised by a climbing wildcat.
By the way, the Bavarian Wolpertinger in the Harz is called "rattle goat".

Of all the trails that lead to the highest peak of the Harz, the Heinrich Heine Trail through the scenic Ilsetal in my opinion the most beautiful. The famous poet chose this route in 1824. The scenic route leads along winding forest paths through the Ilsetal to the Ilsefälle and further up to the Brocken.

On the Koenigskoll in the Huysburger Häu south of Ilsenburg Count Heinrich Ernst built a stately hunting lodge in Stolberg-Wernigerode in the years 1775-1776. He named this after his son-in-law, the prince Friedrich Erdmann of Anhalt-Köthen-Pless, Plessenburg. Somewhat off the hunting lodge a forester's lodge was built in the 19th century, which soon became a popular picnic spot. Immediately adjacent to the hunting lodge, however, a half-timbered building for the kitchen staff was built in 1880, after the expropriation of the princes to Stolberg-Wernigerode after the Second World War, the catering business moved in and later connected structurally with the old hunting lodge to a complex of buildings, which is now popular Excursion restaurant is used.
