You will find the French Statue of Liberty on the island of Île aux Cygnes on the border of the 15th and 16th arrondissements. It is a replica of the Statue of Liberty in New York. The Statue of Liberty in New York was a gift from France in 1776.

The Statue of Liberty is one of the most famous monuments in the world but, before starting this titanic work on the butte Montmartre in Paris, its sculptor, the French Auguste Bartholdi, had first fashioned a first project of 286 cm , then a plaster model of original size of 11.50 meters and 14 tons (completed in 1878). The artist uses this plaster model to achieve a four-fold enlargement that will become the statue which is in New York. This original plaster was bequeathed by the artist's widow in 1907, with funds from Bartholdi's studio. This original plaster is in the Museum of Arts and Crafts in Paris. On the forecourt of the museum is a bronze made from this plaster (same size), number 1 of an original print of 12, made by the museum and cast by Susse Fondeur Paris.
From this plaster model, a first model of the same size is cast in bronze. Auguste Bartholdi offered this first model to the Musée du Luxembourg in 1900. Then, the statue was installed in the Luxembourg garden in 1906. Its tablet bears the indication “15 of November 1889” (date of inauguration of the statue located on the 'Isle of Swans). Since 2012, it has been exhibited at the Musée d'Orsay. The original statue will be replaced by a copy in the Luxembourg Gardens.
In 1885, another replica was cast in bronze by the famous Thiébaut frères foundry. This statue was offered to France by the American Committee of Paris on the occasion of the centenary of the Revolution. It is located at the downstream end of Île aux Cygnes at the Grenelle bridge, near the place where Bartholdi's workshop was held.
