The park preserves the scenic character of the Lenné design. Along the numerous curved paths you can follow the course of the Panke stream, which runs through the entire 30 hectare park. The old trees made of acacia, oak and chestnut are wonderful. Areas that were used as meadows in Lenne's time are now used by allotments and sports fields. Popular destination for the citizens of Pankow

The Castle Park Niederschönhausen looks back on a long and varied history. Countess Dohna laid out her first garden in the Panke lowlands as early as 1662. At the beginning of the 18th century, the garden was expanded under Frederick I and later the wife of Frederick the Great, Queen Elisabeth Christine, and designed in the baroque style. A ground floor in front of the castle, labyrinths and boskette (hedge quarters) were created. The castle itself was expanded by Johann Friedrich Eosander, and ancillary buildings were built. In the years 1829-31 it was redesigned and expanded to create a landscape park based on designs by Peter Josef Lenné. The park part of the palace is now surrounded by a wall that was built when the palace became the seat of the first president of the GDR, Wilhelm Pieck, in 1949, and later the guest house of the government of the GDR. The majority of the castle park is freely accessible. Old trees, curved paths that follow the course of the Panke, and extensive meadows characterize this part of the park.

The park borders on the Niederschönhausen Castle. The river Panke crosses the recreation area popular with Pankowern. There are playgrounds and the Berlin-Usedom cycle path follows the course of the Panke.
