Edersee

A bike ride to the Edersee is always worthwhile. Especially in summer, it is especially beautiful here, because then the deciduous forests on the banks are beautiful green. On hot days, it is wonderful to swim in the reservoir. You can just look for your favorite spot on the shore to relax and refresh in the water. If you prefer to swim on a supervised beach, the DLRG beach is recommended.

There are many opportunities for hiking, cycling and resting on the Edersee. You can also spend your hiking holiday here. There are many hotels and guest houses.

Here you can currently see very well how low the water level in the Edersee.

The Edersee is currently half empty. The foundations of the flooded villages can be visited, on the old bridge at Asel South the Eder can be crossed.

Very beautiful lake with many cycling and hiking trails. Good start possibility from the P + R car park Herzhausen. From there, the bike path can be taken around the lake. On the way great views of the lake. It goes through forest roads, on gravel and paved roads, partly through campsites.

The drive south to Hemfurth, at the northern end are very few parking spaces.

The most beautiful lake in the region. Currently even at full traffic.

The Edersee cycle path marked "ER" meanwhile leads around the whole lake. On the north side you have to overcome some altitude at Basdorf. Two ferries allow for a shortcut.

The cable ferry on the Fulda is not part of the tour.
It is the Scheid-Bringhausen Edersee ferry.
There is also a cable car to Waldeck Castle. The valley station is on the Ederseerandstrasse. Access to Waldeck. You can take your bike with you.

The extra bike path along the route from the barrier wall to Niederwerbe offers a magnificent view of -, and over the lake!

Going to the Edersee is definitely worth it! Every now and then there are a few climbs, but by and large definitely doable. We recommend.

Very nice network of cycle paths around the lake with great views of the lake and the surrounding jungle. Especially the round around the lake on the "ER" is definitely worth it. We did the tour at the end of April with the best weather. At that point there was very little going on on the trails.

Such a great lake that can be circumnavigated by bike - always on the water and should it be too much for one day, the Scheid-Rehbach ferry is a great way to shorten it;)

Very nice landscape with a beautiful reservoir and many attractions.

The cycle path around the Edersee is now possible. The north side, with its hilly path, is more for mountain bikers
