From the 13th century the current district of Deggenau was one of the many wine-growing areas in the Danube valley. On the vineyards, the Mühlberg and the Geiersberg, wine was grown on the mountain slopes for almost 400 years. This was the "Baierwein". The first documentary evidence of a vineyard in today's urban area dates from 1149 and documents a vineyard on the Mühlberg in Deggendorf.

In 2012, a vineyard was created on the Findlstein, at a historically traditional location.
In addition to some vines from the old “Elbling” grape variety, which can be used for vinification, various table grape varieties were planted. Their grapes are used as table fruit for consumption.
You will find newer table grape varieties in the vineyard, which have good fungus resistance and can also cope with a cooler climate.
The varietal names of the grapes are attached to the vine pegs. The vines were planted in 7 rows. After the third row there is a small terrace with benches.
