Here you have a good view of the earth pyramids of Nobls. It is one of several places in South Tyrol where you can see these geological phenomena. Protected from rain and erosion by a large, flat rock, 20 to 30 meter high pyramid-like towers have formed out of the loamy-red earth over the centuries, which today look like a piece of desert in the middle of the forest.

Presumably by erosion and favored by climatic conditions - by the alternation of rainy and dry seasons and a wind-sheltered location - over the centuries created these earth pyramids. Such erosion phenomena exist mainly where glacial glaciers deposited morainic clay in valleys. The dry and rock hard material combined with water to a loamy pulp and flows to the valley. It form cliffs. If a large stone is now stored in the clay, this protects the underlying material from rain, so it remains dry and hard. This is how these earth columns, which can reach a height of about 30 m, are created. Good in a walking tour to Gschnoferstall build.
