    Hiking

The Lober-Leine Canal is the artificial outflow of the Lober and Leine rivers into the Mulde. It begins north of Benndorf and flows into the Mulde between Pouch and Löbnitz (Delitzsch district). The canal was built between 1949 and 1951 because the original river beds had to give way to the Goitzsche opencast mine. It was around 14 kilometers long and was relocated in 1982 to clear the construction site for the Rösa opencast mine. After the flood of 2002, in which the mouth was destroyed, it was temporarily used to flood the remaining opencast mine Seelhauser See.
