The baroque church was built in the 18th century on the site of a previous building.

According to Gustav Schönermark (1892), the village church was built after 1650. Although he assumes that a previous building existed that dates back to before the Reformation, no evidence of this can currently be provided.
The cross shape of the church was completed in 1740 with the addition of the count's chapel. The tower took on its current shape in 1867 after a fire destroyed the previous one.
