    Majkowski's Alexander

The 310 m long street in the central part of Lower Sopot, connects Jana Winieckiego street with Powstańców Warszawy street.
Formed in the 1870s, before the end of this century it was built on both sides with modest residential and guesthouses, equipped with wood-decorated verandas and bay windows. On the westerly extension of the street there is a tree-lined gorge 150 m long, cutting Skarpa Sopocka. The pedestrian road along the bottom of the gorge leads through the city's oldest tunnel under the railway tracks (1869) to the area of Upper Sopot.
Street name before 1945: Promenadenstrasse (Spacerowa).
Aleksander Majkowski (1876-1938), writer and Kashubian activist, doctor and tourist, incl. founder of the Kashubian-Pomeranian Museum in Sopot in 1913. He lived in Sopot in the years 1911-1923.
House at number 6. A modest classicist residential-holiday house from the mid-nineteenth century
House at number 8. A villa with an Art Nouveau decor built in 1906 by architect Carl Kupperschmitt.
