The Horbacher Mühle is the last mill to work on a large scale in the Rhein-Sieg district. Wheat and rye are still processed today. Different types of flour are produced and sold, both in the mill shop on site and to major customers.

The mill was built in 1841 as a grain mill and had frequently changing owners in the following decades. The Horbacher Mühle has been owned by the Dobelke family since 1912, who is the fourth generation of the mill to operate the mill.

The wooden water wheel from the 19th century was replaced around 1900 by an iron wheel and in the 1920s a stone grinding aisle by a roller mill.

The water wheel powered the mill until 1977, but then had to give way to a turbine. In the course of this modernization, further grinding steps were replaced by roller mills.

In 1996, the Horbacher Mühle was completely renovated and modernized to meet the increased demands on the quality and performance of the plant. It was converted into a modern 16-ton mill. A gentle short grinding process is used, which guarantees a cool grinding process to prevent protein and glue damage to the grain due to heat development during the grinding process. The Horbacher Mühle can be visited by prior appointment.
