Mureck Floating Mill

An absolute highlight of old architecture.

Built on the principle of a houseboat, this type of mill has all of the mill and grinding technology, including the drive - the corrugated wheel, which inevitably reminds one of the paddle wheel of a paddle steamer - on a floating platform. The mill was rebuilt in 1997 according to the original model and is the only floating and functioning mill in Central Europe with a traditional design.

The Mureck Ship Mill is located in the south of Mureck.
It offers a beautiful view of the Mur River, which forms the border between Austria and Slovenia.Right next door is a restaurant, the Mühlenhof Restaurant. There are several places to sit outside and admire the mill.To enter the ship mill, you must pay an entrance fee at the restaurant.
