Tips

  • As the most important port in the country, the city is a port of call for cruise ships and is a popular starting point for excursions to other regions of Belize.
Belize City has the world's only manually operated swing bridge and the oldest Anglican cathedral in Central America.

  • The Belize Cruise Terminal, known as the Fort Street Tourism Village, is the central hub for cruise ships visiting the country. Because Belize has an offshore coral reef, cruise ships cannot dock directly on the mainland. Instead, they anchor about 4 to 6 kilometers offshore, and passengers are transported to the terminal by tender boat.
