The canons of San Vittore were first mentioned in the 12th century. The three-aisled pillar basilica with three rounded apses received extensive Gothic paintings in the 14th and 15th centuries. Also worth seeing is the crypt, which is located under the elevated choir. In addition to the Church of San Nicola in Giornico, the Church of San Vittore in Muralto is the only remaining Romanesque church in Ticino.
