Hiking Highlight
The Rakov Škocjan Karst ReserveRakov Škocjan is a picturesque karst canyon that was formed when the cave ceiling collapsed. This is proven by the mighty natural bridges that rise 40 m above the river Rak. On a walk from the small to the large natural bridge, in the shade of hundred-year-old trees, you will witness geological processes that have been taking place for millions of years. The fact that the Rakov Škocjan area was declared the first Slovenian landscape park in 1949 proves that this 2.5 km long gorge is indeed something special. You can discover 2 natural bridges, passage caves (temporarily water-bearing) and an incredibly beautiful nature. The route is very interesting and varied. Sturdy shoes are recommended.notranjska.com/en/sights/natural-sights/karst-reserve-rakov-skocjanThere are no parking fees and no entrance fee.

After a short hike from the parking lot, it goes downhill on an unpaved path to a "cave system". These are old karst caves that have partially collapsed and are now overgrown. The remaining parts naturally form bridges. The collapsed parts are funnels overgrown with green. Through small caves with a small stream you get from one funnel to the next. Absolutely mystical. Sturdy shoes and sure-footedness are an advantage, as the paths are not paved. Sometimes it gets a little slippery going downhill to the cave system. It is best to visit the system on dry days.

“Mali naravni most” means the natural bridges. These were created by the erosion of the water.

Really gorgeous !! You go down a path "at your own risk", then cross several caves with spectacles of light or shadow, green water, magnificent.
