The shipyard was built around 1227 as part of some expansion and expansion measures under the Seljuk Sultan Alaeedin Keykubat.

It is located just a few meters from Alanya's landmark, the "Red Tower".
A narrow path from the Red Tower leads to the entrance to the Seljuk shipyard.

The shipyard's 5 covered docks are built of hewn stones and bricks. Overall, the structure is 40 meters long and 57 meters wide. The individual docks are 7 meters wide.
There are two rooms at the entrance. The small room on the right has been used as a mosque. The larger left room was probably used by the managers of the shipyard. There is a dry well in the middle of the shipyard.

The Seljuk shipyard was used for the construction and repair of smaller ships. After Sinope on the Black Sea, the shipyard has made Alanya the second most important Seljuks' seaport.
