Within the castle ruins is a small exhibition where u.a. old cannons with cannonballs are visible.

  • A huge area with great vantage points.
From a distance you can see how big the terrain is.
It's fun to walk around in ruins, there is a lot to discover. There are signs of information about the ruin everywhere,
The fortress Schlosskopf, formerly fortress Schloßkopf, is located at about 1250 m above the Ehrenberg Castle and the market Reutte in Außerfern in Tyrol. The castle and fortress together with the associated hermitage and the fort Claudia (Hochschanz) form one of the most important fortress ensembles in Central Europe.

To the east of Reutte rise powerfully and impregnable the fortress of the fortress and fortress ensemble Ehrenberg.
    The castle ensemble Ehrenberg
High above the castle Schlosskkopf towers over the Außerfern. Every traveler and hiker is impressed by the long, massive walls that once were bulwarks against warlike attacks.
In the Middle Ages, the Ehrenberger Klause was hotly contested, but passed the main trade route between north and south. The massive walls give an idea that in front of the castle Ehrenberg often cannon raging and war cries could be heard. Many lords and noble people have seen the walls, but one thing is unchanged, the impressive landscape around Ehrenberg still captivates its visitors. Ehrenberg is today an indoor and outdoor adventure world with a historical background.

  • Great ruin with a moving story.
Information boards explain the individual areas and when they were probably created.

I really liked the growth of the walls. I have rarely noticed as here.

  • Ehrenberg Castle is the center of one of Central Europe's most important fortress ensembles. It is dominated by the baroque fortress Schlosskopf. Below the Ehrenberger Klause locks the valley. East of the B179 highway, Fort Claudia completes the fortification system.Ehrenberg was once a mighty defensive fortification, administrative center and customs post. Today, the four fortresses are known under the name "Burgenwelt Ehrenberg".
