The Hotel Galenstock was built by the Russi family and opened in 1889. This included the alpine buildings, which were completed in 1934 and 1947.
The mountain hotel high above the Urserental had 14 double and two single rooms at affordable prices. The hotel appears in a scene in the 1964 James Bond film "Goldfinger".
The hotel has been closed for some time. In 2016, the media reported that it was to be demolished and a revolving restaurant was to be built on the site. But so far nothing has happened....
