The entire vineyard path is tarred and lined with stone walls. These dry stone walls in the vineyards on Lake Biel have been an integral part of the landscape for centuries. Here you can also follow in the footsteps of Dürrenmatt. The writer and painter Friedrich Dürrenmatt (1921 to 1990) spent most of his life in the Jura & Three Lakes Region. The Dürrenmatt Center, which was designed by the architect Mario Botta in the artist's former home, is still located there today in the canton of Neuchâtel. A dedicated themed trail on Lake Biel takes visitors on an exciting journey through Dürrenmatt's life. The five kilometer long path begins either at the valley station of the “Vinifuni” funicular in Ligerz or at the bus stop at its mountain station in Prêles. The 13 interactive posts each highlight a different facet of the artist Dürenmatt and it quickly becomes clear that he was not only the well-known Swiss author, but also had many other exciting sides.
