The Black Lake is located directly on the cycle path through the Granitz. The Black Lake is a very beautiful gem in the Granitz and always worth a visit! Once an insider tip, it is now unfortunately very crowded (especially in summer). You can now only find peace here in winter or in bad weather. The jetty at the Black Lake was renovated in early summer 2024 and is easily accessible again. There are a few benches to sit on.

If you are out and about in the Granitz forests, you should take a break at the 15-meter-deep Kesselsee. You will find a bench under an old oak tree. According to legend, a prince was transformed into this oak tree. The prince's sunken castle lies in the lake, where a party still celebrates, sometimes you can hear their voices as far as Sellin. So when you visit, take a look and see if you can spot the battlements of the castle in the depths 🏰

The Black Lake is located in the core zone of the Granitz nature reserve. It covers an area of 23 ha (230,000 square meters) and is up to 15 m deep. It originated from a so-called ice hole, in which the retreat of the glaciers of the last ice age collected the water.
