The promenade is located on l'Estany Gran, also called Lago Esperanza or Es Lac Gran. The shallow lake was originally a separated arm of the sea near the Parc natural de s'Albufera de Mallorca, with which it is still connected via canals, but is now integrated into the urban area of Alcúdia and largely surrounded by hotels and holiday resorts.
