Friedrichsort Lighthouse

There has been a lighthouse at Friedrichsorter Enge, the narrowest point of the Kiel Fjord, since 1815. The current lighthouse with its characteristic green and white coloring has been in operation since 1971 and serves as a guiding light for the entrance to Kiel harbor and the locks of the Kiel Canal.

This lighthouse stands on a small island at the narrowest point of the entrance to the Kiel Fjord.
This island can be reached on foot at low tide ... and then entering the island is officially prohibited 😉

The beach section around / in front of the island is then a rather calmer part of the Falckensteiner estate

The 31 meter high lighthouse stands on the base of what used to be the smaller lighthouse on Friedrichsdorfer Enge.
