Tips

  • There are a few places to stop and rest around the hut and grotto.

  • The Bärenschützklamm in the is an impressive water-bearing rock gorge with limestone walls up to 300 meters high. The path leads over 164 wooden bridges with more than 2,500 rungs through the narrow gorge from Mixnitz up to the Guter Hirte inn. The gorge was closed after a tragic accident in July 2020, but is expected to reopen in August 2024.

  • In the upper part, the Klammbach becomes calmer and the gradient is less steep. This gives you a chance to relax a little before the short but intense climb after the last bridge.
